Mountain West Conference Commissioner Gloria Nevarez will be in Corvallis on Monday to make a presentation to Oregon State officials, per sources.
Nevarez is scheduled to meet with OSU at 10 a.m., I’m told.
She presented to Washington State officials last week alongside University of New Mexico president Garnett Stokes. Per those present, the tone of their pitch in Pullman could best be titled: “Let’s start a conversation.”
At this point, WSU and OSU appear focused on talking about trying to retain the “Pac-whatever” assets and perform an ambitious rebuild under the conference banner.
A reverse merger? A straight expansion? Something else?
One person who was present for the presentation in Pullman last week told me: “It was well received. They have their act together. Honestly my biggest takeaway was that I left thinking ‘I wish Gloria was our commissioner.’”
