Canzano: Monday Mailbag goes to a CFP yacht party... plus questions about Ducks, Beavers, MW, Pac-12, and more
Your questions. My answers.
MIAMI — I attended the College Football Playoff media party on Sunday night here. The event was held on a four-deck yacht that never left the dock.
The party featured a DJ, a dance floor, a 360-degree photo booth, three different buffets, several bars, and a couple hundred media members who mostly watched the Bears-Rams NFL playoff game on television while they hung out.
Servers holding silver platters rotated on the yacht, offering hors d'oeuvres. A finger-sized cuban sandwich? Veggie kebabs? A deep-fried cheese stick? I sampled them all, but mostly just navigated the decks of the yacht, exploring, while trying not to trip over anything.
I walked back from the harbor to the media hotel, passing the team hotel for Indiana University, and let me tell you, the Hoosiers’ fans don’t need a 20,000-square foot yacht to have a good time. The hotel lobby was packed, and fans were stumbling out the front doors, dressed in red, spilling onto the sidewalks.
This week’s Monday Mailbag includes questions about the College Football Playoff, the Ducks, Beavers, and Oregon men’s basketball coach Dana Altman.
I was asked about the Mountain West Conference media rights deal, hot wings, and Autzen Stadium, among other topics.
What one bit of advice would I give Dan Lanning?
Would I settle a Justin Herbert vs. Bo Nix vs. Dante Moore debate?
What is with the spending (or lack of it) at Oregon State?
Thanks to all who submitted questions.
