Canzano: Mike Bellotti has something to teach the Pac-12
Former Oregon Ducks coach sounds off.
Mike Bellotti is knee-deep in grandparent fun right now. He’s spending a couple of weeks with his grandchildren. The former University of Oregon football coach stepped away for a spell this week to talk in-depth about what he learned coaching in the Pac-12 Conference.
Bellotti, 72, has more Pac-12 coaching victories — 116 — than anyone alive. In our conversation, I asked him what advice or input he might offer to a variety of football programs in the conference.
Specifically, what would he tell Oregon’s Dan Lanning and Oregon State’s Jonathan Smith? What is Deion Sanders facing at Colorado? How about Washington’s Kalen DeBoer or Washington State’s Jake Dickert? Anything still left for Utah’s Kyle Whittingham to absorb? How about first-year coach Kenny Dillingham at ASU?
