That was the first thing I heard from a well-placed source after Dana Altman announced on Wednesday that he was throwing in the keys. The Final Four coach is retiring. He’s scheduled an afternoon news conference in Eugene to talk about it.
No more NIL.
No more portal.
No more headaches.
I expect Altman, 68, to talk about the challenges of these things. Maybe the kid from Wilbur, Nebraska, will blow a hole in the entire sport itself. Or maybe he’ll just talk about his health issues, as I heard that Altman was in so much pain that he had to lie down on the hardwood floor at practice last week.
