Canzano: Mailbag deals with Pac-12, ESPN, expansion dilemma, Vegas heat and more
Your questions, my answers.
It’s blistering hot in Las Vegas this week. Saturday’s high temperature: 115 degrees. On Friday morning I walked outside the hotel lobby at 7:15 a.m. noted it was 92 degrees and wondered why in the world anyone would choose to live there.
UCLA coach Chip Kelly had a similar thought on his early-morning walk on The Strip.
“I don’t understand it — I don’t,” Kelly said. “You have a choice in life of where you’re going to be. I don’t know why it’s comfortable. It’s not for me. I like moderation.”
Kelly told me a story about recruiting a high school player while he was the coach at the University of Oregon. He was visiting Fargo, N.D. in the winter and stopped to get gasoline. The coach got out of the car without a jacket on and started to walk toward the inside of the gas station to use the restroom.
