John, as a retired journalist who worked for the San Francisco Chronicle and the Oakland Tribune, I admire your career. You went where the work was and where there was lots of stuff to cover that no one was covering. The only time Cal played Fresno State in Fresno, the Bulldogs won 17-3. Fresno won in Berkeley the time before that. Couple of once-overlooked Fresno players, Derek Carr and Devante Adams, have a chance to do something special this year if the rest of the Raiders are finally up to it.
You don't get to read much about the Pat Hills of the sports world in the Bay Area anymore. I worked with Scott Ostler at the SF Chronicle among others. Wonderful guy, but his favorite athlete: Colin Kaepernick.
Even before I came to the NIL mention all I could think of while reading was Dabbo Sweeney making eleven million five hundred thousand dollars per year for the next ten years. I know, I know, but I've been around a long long time just can't get all this in focus. Apologies, folks.
I just started watching Losers on Netflix. The second episode “Jaws of Victory” is especially funny. I’m humbly suggesting an idea for an article. What is the biggest loss of your sports career, and what has it taught you? I would love to hear this answer from some sports legends. Thanks for all the great work you do.
John, WSU Cougars did a fantastic job today representing the PAC12 vs Big 10. In your podcast this week I believe you said WSU needed a signature win but doubted they would do it against the much bigger Badgers. Guess desire and speed can neutralize big 5 stars. Go Cougs!

John,
Where can I find lines for the FCS games?
Big Ralphie
A good idea for a Kickoff Classic series would be:
1) A game in Atlanta
2) A game in Indianapolis
3) A game at Jerry's World
4) Either a game at Sofi or Allegiant
This would give every Region a game. Even if you only did 2 each year, and rotated.

Don't forget the Beavers were treated back then. Screwdriver, glass bottles, and ever else . And that was when they had to walk by the tailgaters.
And the student section was right behind the Beavers.
And they laid out Terrell with a cheap shot.
