Duck fans better quit worrying about soft Husky fans and start demanding their defense toughen up.

Hey Dan, what's the plan? You are always spouting about elite this, elite that. What is your plan to fix the defense? Is top 50 D too much to ask for 23?

Modern Era Duck fans are the host/carriers of the “don’t you know who I am?” syndrome. It will continue for the unforeseeable future - the infection is apparent and the symptoms remain pompously obvious

I am not a “modern era fan” & I already know who I am lol…I am a fan just like you. I do not consider myself pompous or entitled. I do however, find it funny that you, a Husky fan would call Duck fans pompous🤣 I have supported my team for over 50 years, through good years, frustrating years & bad years. The majority of Oregon fans are just like me. Go Ducks 🦆

I, too, am a long-time fan. Dad took me to my first Husky Rose Bowl in ‘61

Should’ve worded it differently, I guess, but…I think you know what I mean.

Beav fans should be ecstatic that we have Florida, instead of NC in the Holiday Bowl.

Forget the record of each, instead the longevity and impact of a win. Beating an SEC team, especially one that beat Utah at the beginning of the year, is something that can be sold about the program on the recruiting trail for years to come. It will mark another benchmark with Smith's program. The record books will improve PAC stock and Beavs will always claim the win.

A win against NC is a win against an ACC team... nice, but years from now, will not have the power ont he recruiting trail.

Of the two, Florida is the more likely win, but I will go beyond that and predict that Beavs blowout Florida. That type of score will have real lasting marketability for the Beavs program for at least a decade... NC win, would matter only for next year.

Hey John-Henry, as a lifelong Beaver fan, alumni, and certified PAC 12 homer I like the way you laid this out. I caught the significance of the SEC aspect however didn't think quite as broadly here. Thank you for a nicely detailed post!!!

A 6-6 Florida is still a big name opponent. It will take 20 years of Florida losing to erase the memory of what a big time program they are.

This game should be winnable. Their QB Richardson isn't playing.

I am going....I can't wait!!! This is a top notch matchup for the Beavs with Florida at 29th on the FBS power index and the Beavers at 22nd. It is much much better than facing Pitt or Bowling Green at the Sun Bowl, which had been rumored. Yuck!

The most insufferable fan base for me has been USC fans, ever since it was announced they're moving to the Big-10, they've been trashing the Pac-12 every chance they get... Talking about how soft it is, what a weak conference it is.

Which I think is ridiculous considering they only won the Pac-12 once.

Not to mention, they seem to hate Utah and I enjoy that as a Utah fan, love seeing Utah spoil the fortunes of USC.

I felt a decent rivalry was brewing there and their fans sound almost as delusional as BYU fans.

Expand full comment
JimS's avatar

That's why I felt the Utah wins were so important, even though led to less conference revenue and extending the playoff streak.

BYU is definitely more delusional, basically resting on the laurels of Lavell Edwards and a split national championship with a weak schedule. USC is pompous, but at least has decades of success to back it up.

For me, I am a fan of old style college sports... where the coach devotes themselves to the players and isn;t looking for every moment to be in the limelight. Thats not to say I want a shadow of a coach, I loved and miss Mike Leach's press conferences...

Coach Prime looks to make the team about himself, like a reality show on par with the Kardadshians, and the players that will attract will be hungry to be social media influencers... so they will all feed off each other... if I wanted that type of drama I would just watch Orange County Housewives with my wife

I don’t necessarily disagree with you, but you’re totally ignoring the benefits that come with Prime.

He is a legit leader. He demands accountability. He is building men, not just football players. Ultimately that is changing lives of young men and has the possibility of changing the trajectory of lives for generations to come.

If you don't like a show-boater that's certainly understandable. But then to bring up enjoying Mike Leach, yikes. Kind of makes me think you just want someone who thinks, looks, and talks like you.

I'm not a fan of Sanders, but he brings instant credibility as one of the game's greatest players at all levels. He's nicknamed Primetime for a reason. But he also seems to genuinely want to see players that put in the effort succeed on the field, off, and make money in the process. And he is more relatable for a young, African American football player.

John. Coach Prime is going to breathe new life into Pac 12 football as will Coach Dilly at ASU; this will entice the conference to stay healthier and attract great players to ALL the Pac 12 members rather then having some recruited successfully to the SEC and Big 10, etc. we should all applaud their hires regardless whether we are Beavers or DuX or Huskies !! No doubt the OSU - Colorado game next year will be a SRO -sell out !!!

Scott Satterfield Louisville to Cincinnati.

Luke Ficknell Cincinnati to Wisconsin.

Jim Leonhard Wisconsin to Purdue.
