My first dog was named Reggie — after slugger Reggie Jackson. My family got him when I was just nine. He was a Husky mix with black and tan fur.
Reggie was good natured. On summer days, I’d walk out the back door of my parents ranch-style house and Reggie would come running alongside. He’d follow me everywhere.
I walked, Reggie walked.
I ran, he ran.
I slipped through a fence, and my dog always came right after.
