QBs, defenses, recruiting... and books?
Jonathan Smith has a book club. I don’t know when he started it, or how exclusive it is, but the Oregon State football coach is definitely a reader.
Beavers baseball coach Mitch Canham told me recently that Smith gave him a great book recommendation. It was the Edwin Friedman book titled: “A Failure of Nerve: Leadership in the Age of the Quick Fix.”
I’ll ask Smith about it at next week’s Pac-12 Football Media Day. I also have a line of pressing football questions for the rest of the conference’s coaches and the star players the schools will bring to Las Vegas.
