Canzano: Let's hear it for the new guy... uh, never mind
We've seen Tom Dundon's act before.
Casey Holdahl was a loyal soldier. He was scheduled to do a live podcast at Spirit Mountain Casino later this week as part of a sponsorship deal for Trail Blazers, Inc. He’d drive out to the casino, record the show, promote some Keno, give away Black Jack secrets, and record the Blazers-branded podcast.
I doubt Tom Dundon even knows where Grand Ronde is.
Holdahl was going. It’s his job. He’d have shown up to work as he has over the last 18 years, creating online content on behalf of the NBA franchise. But the event was officially scrapped on Tuesday, with a few sobering words posted on social media.
“Uh… never mind,” Holdahl wrote.
He was among 70-plus employees who were let go on Tuesday. I don’t have access to the company books, but I can’t imagine the savings were very much in the big picture. So let’s be careful about characterizing Dundon as some misunderstood business savant. Right now, the new owner looks like little more than a cost-cutting cheapskate borrowing from the Clay Bennett playbook.
