Canzano: Jake Dickert 'cooking slow' at Washington State
Cougars football coach talks candidly.
The graduating class at Kohler High School included 27 students during Jake Dickert’s senior year. There were only nine boys. The Washington State football coach remembers walking the halls of his small-town school in Wisconsin and getting recruited to play a variety of sports.
“You had to keep playing just so we had teams,” he told me.
I visited 1-on-1 with Dickert this week. We talked about the shift in his recruiting philosophy, the performance of his school’s NIL collective, and how increasing job demands are chasing some long-time coaches out of college football.
