John, thanks for being more than a "sports guy", allowing us to see your humanity while helping a worthy cause. Don't ever leave that trait behind.

Jphn, all else pales when it comes to kids doesn't it? Circumatances similar to Shoe's have struck our family over the years along wth the "what if" question as well. I can't imagine anyone reading this column without glassey eyes. Kudo's to you for writing it and keeping Shoe's tradiotion alive.

Losing “shoe” has been my biggest heartache. Speaking his name and continuing his story helps mend our broken pieces. I appreciate John so much for capturing our story in a beautiful way!

John, I had forgotten about Shoe. Choked me up, as did the past articles.

I’m sure he’s smiling at all the donated Lego sets, the people surviving because of his organ donations, and because of your columns, John.

Thank you for this!

Holy Cow, John!! Has it been a year already? Last year, I freaked out for 5 second when I got the email that the item had been delivered but nothing was on my doorstep. Quickly, I realized the lego set had been delivered. Thank you for reminding all of us of Jack's legacy!!

Hi Tammi, thank you so much for replying back to my message. This gives me the grand opportunity to say God Bless You for everything you do to honor Jack, for managing this hugely successful campaign to put Legos in the hospital and putting one foot in front of the other each and every day. As a parent, I salute your powerful spirit while assuming that the mourning still occurs. You are truly an inspiration!!!

Tammi, I'm sitting here reading your comments for the first time.

John brought the story of a great young man to many of us that did not have the chance to meet Shoe. Not surprising that Shoe would have a great Mom.

Shoe is now alive in the minds of many who never knew him; the power of insightful, caring journalism.

God bless you.

How cannot this real story touch our hearts! Touching hearts of kids and families in this crazy world of ME. We are preparing to start another season of flag football this fall here in Northwest Vancouver. It attracts over 200 kids that demonstrate that each child is so important no matter their skill level. I wish I could share more, it will take more space as other feedback is important. I have a part of this outreach for many years and it is special.
