Canzano: Is sports killing off casual fans?
Who has the time (and money) for all of it?
Do you currently pay for the NBA League Pass? How about YouTube TV? The NFL Sunday Ticket? Got Peacock and Apple TV? Amazon Prime? What about Paramount?
The NBA playoff ‘play-in’ games were up 25 percent, and averaged 3.25 million viewers. Wildcard expansion has been a big win for MLB. The NFL went to a 17-game season in 2021, and some are now pushing for 18 games.
Did you hear the NCAA Tournament is expanding to 76 teams? And that the College Football Playoff may soon grow to 24 teams? And that the Seattle Seahawks are going to play regular-season games on every day except Tuesday next season?
Amid that, a question: Is all this killing off casual sports fans?
