Have you seen the University of Oregon baseball team lately? Tree trunks for necks. Cinderblocks for hands. I don’t know if the Ducks sleep in the school weight room, but as one long-time college baseball staffer with an ACC program told me this week: “They don’t do 5-foot-10, 175-pound, it seems.”

Hold that thought.

I woke up thinking about a potential dreamy NCAA Baseball Regional in the Pacific Northwest. The 16 “host” regional sites will be announced at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday. The full bracket reveal comes on Monday at 9 a.m. PT.

The top 16 national seeds will host Regionals. Teams seeded No. 17-32 nationally will be grouped into regional “pods” of four, and geography will help determine assignments.

Eugene Regional, anyone?

Try this foursome on: Oregon, Oregon State, Saint Mary’s, and Washington State.

Amid that, could we be headed to a Ducks-Beavers winner-take-all postseason game?
