A talk with Washington AD Pat Chun.
I caught up with Pat Chun on Tuesday morning. The University of Washington athletic director is in Ohio. His oldest daughter, Vanna, is wrapping up her junior year of college at The Ohio State University and preparing to move home for the summer.
“You have daughters,” he said, “you understand.”
Your children probably don’t grasp it in the moment. But all you really want when they reach those late college years is to spend a little time with them and cling to their childhood. I had a good friend tell me, as my oldest daughter hit her late teen years, “Your little girl is going to go away for a while, but she’ll be back in her 20s.”
