Talia von Oelhoffen celebrates the game-winning shot on Friday.

It didn’t matter that nothing came easy for Scott Rueck’s team on Friday night. Oregon State women’s basketball knows precisely what to do with an elbow to the face and a ranked opponent that won’t go away.

Down one point?

Only 1.1 seconds to play?

Was there ever a doubt?

The 11th-ranked Beavers inbounded the ball and slayed No. 9 UCLA with a 79-77 victory at Gill Coliseum. Talia von Oelhoffen’s three-point rainbow came from deep in Benton County, several strides off the top of the arc. Her shot dropped through the net as she was mobbed by teammates and caught by the Pac-12 Network broadcast mouthing: “Let’s go, baby!!”

It was a sixth-straight victory for OSU — five over ranked opponents. The Beavers have caught lightning in a bottle. But there was much more going on amid what was one the best college basketball finishes I’ve ever seen.
