Canzano: Final thoughts on the final college football game of the season
BFT video from Miami.
MIAMI — Who ya got?
Miami or Indiana?
I posted a video broadcast from the site of the College Football Playoff national championship game on Monday.
I talked about the Miami-Indiana, Mario Cristobal, Curt Cignetti, the keys to the game, and the window to win big at both schools. I also dove into the lingering vitriol for Cristobal from some Oregon fans, and the ‘big game’ scene in Miami.
I’ll file a column from the CFP title game on Monday night from Hard Rock Stadium. My mission is to provide content readers can’t get anywhere else. Photographer Naji Saker is on the scene with me. We’ve got you covered for the CFP title game at JohnCanzano.com.
I’m picking Indiana to win, 23-17. I’m giving Miami a puncher’s chance to steal this game, but the Hoosiers are just a little better, more physical, and a touch more experienced. I do think Las Vegas is overvaluing IU, however.

John ~ I didn't comment on your column about Cristobal, but I just watched your pre-game video today where you asked again about the hate for him. His departure had nothing to do with my dislike of him. In fact, I cheered for it. I have been a season ticket holder for 40+ years and have been attending games for even longer. For most of my time as a season ticket holder, my wife and I lived in Seattle, San Francisco, or other parts of the country, yet we still attended most home games. Traveled even for the two 2-9 seasons. But, in all that time, I've rooted for only one coach to be fired. Cristobal. Wonderful recruiter, great talker, but a crap game manager. And I will never forgive him for what he did to Herbert. Under any other coach, Justin would have been a contender for the Heisman. Hate? No, that is too strong an emotion. But I do root for whoever is playing Miami. Oh, wait, I've rooted against Miami since the '80s, but now it is more fun! Jim G.
Pretty good call , 6 point spread, spot on ! Happy for the Hoosiers
