LAS VEGAS — Betsy Cantwell boarded a plane home on Monday night, capping a blurry visit to Las Vegas where she’d met with donors and watched her school’s basketball team play in the West Coast Conference tournament.
I asked Washington State’s president what feedback she got from stakeholders during the trip. Her school has captured some momentum, particularly with its football hire.
What are WSU donors talking about?
“I can tell you what they’re not talking about,” she told me. “Nobody remembers Jimmy Rogers. His name never comes up. The past is forgotten. There’s a real willingness to embrace the future.”
The Board of Regents at Washington State made a notable move earlier this week, directing $20 million of campus funding to the athletic department.
