Scientists tell us that optimists tend to live longer, enjoy more professional success and are less likely to get sick. But I’m wondering if the Las Vegas sports books love when they see optimists coming to the betting window.

Are we suckers or what?

The oddsmakers set the win totals for six different Pac-12 teams at or above 8.5 victories this season. Last season six conference teams finished with nine or more regular-season wins. But will that happen again in 2023? And will the top-six teams be the ones everyone expects?
