There were layers to it, weren’t there?

Dan Lanning used to work as a server at Outback Steakhouse in college. It was a tough gig. I wondered on Monday night if he’d ever had an IV while trying to wait on tables.

No?

Hmph.

At his weekly news conference, Lanning gaslit a beat reporter who asked how he felt about quarterback Dante Moore not making himself available to the media after Oregon’s 39-31 upset loss at Oklahoma State.

Let me back up a little. Lanning arrived on Monday night carrying a laptop, some notes on a piece of paper, and a pile of frustration. I wasn’t in the room. I watched on video. But you can see from a mile away that Oregon’s coach has grown weary of outsiders drilling into his football operation with questions.

Are the Ducks tipping plays?

Where’s the leadership in this so-called ‘self-led’ locker room?

How does Lanning feel about Moore’s no-show in the postgame?
