Canzano: Dan Lanning hunts a 'W' against Washington
Is there a catharsis in the works for the Ducks?
I saw Dan Lanning in the loading dock hallway of Husky Stadium last football season. Oregon had just out-gained Washington — out-rushed ‘em and out-passed ‘em — but the Ducks didn’t out-score the Huskies.
Final score: 36-33.
Lanning looked sick.
His offense had just amassed 32 first downs. Oregon snapped the ball 23 more times than UW and could have easily won the game. But the Ducks went for broke on fourth down three times and came up empty. Lanning knew he’d blown it. I bumped into him in the hallway after the game, and Lanning just shook his head.
