When I visited Boise State last year for a sit down Jeramiah Dickey said something that stuck with me. The athletic director lamented that his school should never have dropped the Broncos’ baseball program.

“I wish I’d been here nine months sooner,” he told me. “I would have kept baseball. It was short-sighted. They never should have dropped wrestling, either.”

The 2026 NCAA Division I baseball season started officially on Friday. Baylor senior first baseman Tyce Armstrong did the unthinkable against New Mexico State, hitting three grand slam home runs in his first three at-bats.

“Coolest night of my life,” he said.
