Canzano: Chip Kelly back in form -- throwing barbs
Ohio State coordinator took a jab at Oregon Ducks.
ATLANTA — Chip Kelly is having fun and throwing barbs again.
No way around it — he’s back.
Nine months of nothing but game-planning on the back of a napkin at Ohio State has left his wit sharp. Kelly showed up at the national championship game news conference on Saturday at the Georgia World Congress Center.
He spoke for 30 minutes on a variety of topics, including how he throttled down the pace of the Buckeyes’ offense and the need for a college football commissioner. Eventually, Kelly brought up Oregon’s 32-31 victory over the Buckeyes in the regular season and threw a jab.
Remember Dan Lanning’s intentional 12-men-on-the-field penalty?
Said Kelly: “I’ll tell you what, it was a unique message with our players, you can’t stop us with 11. You had to stop us with 12. You saw the final results of 11 versus 11. So that was a message to our team for the week leading up to the Rose Bowl that I think resonated really well with our guys.”
