When I covered the Ducks in 2010 and 2011, Kenjon Barner was one of my favorite players -- always an interesting person to interview.

Such a fun interview.

John, I love the fact that you are a PAC-12 guy. Yeah you love your Oregon programs because that is your base. But you understand the importance of PAC-12 fans supporting the conference as a hole. SEC fans always root for SEC teams to be successful as it elevates their conference. Historically, fans of a PAC-12 school have just supported their team and ignored all others. I get not supporting your big rival. But that leaves 10 schools other than your own to root for. We must get our conference back to national prominence. It wasn’t terribly long ago that PAC-12 was rated #2 behind SEC. Then the wheels came off the wagon. Scott happened. But this is a new era.PAC-12 is the conference of champios, especially football and basketball. BTW… baseball is big in many other conferences.

So many good memories of Barner in a Duck uni. I’m particularly fond of the long punt return for a score against Tennessee in 2010 I believe.

He scored TDs rushing, receiving and via punt and kickoff. I think the only UO player who had done that prior to Barner played in the 1960s.

He was a great all all around player. Ducks fans were lucky to watch him. Other teams...not so much.

I'm really enjoying your more frequent columns. My question is off topic, but seems important. Why are so many Oregon/Oregon State basketball players transferring? Many of the women basketball players who are transferring are already starters and big contributors to their teams. Graves and Ruek seem to be top notch coaches. What is going on? Do you have any behind the scenes scoop on this?

The Pac-12 had about 40 women's basketball players in the portal last I checked and there were more than 1,100 nationally. My gut reaction -- it's happening everywhere. But it's still worth an examination.

John I like the longer form interviews like Nate Costa and Kenyon this week. Makes for my morning podcast the next day. I’m a subscriber. Thanks!

Let me see if I have this right: Lincoln Riley is the #1 playcaller by the numbers, but he doesn't make the top 4 for DC's in the Pac-12?!? OK, if anyone doubted there's a USC-envy thing in the conference, this settles it once and for all. What, it's because they haven't faced him yet? Do they watch any CFB on TV? Of course they do...

Coach Shaw is an honorable man and a fine example for his players. He is not a good play caller. Stanford should hire a play caller so that Vosch Shaw can manage the whole game.

Both D coordinators and the analytics expert had Shaw in the top 3.
