John, Please don’t take this as an insult because I mean it as a compliment, but sometimes I think the world would be a better place had you spent your career writing exclusively about people instead of sports
You have an incredible gift when it comes to this stuff
Ah, man, there you go again. Friday morning and my wife wants me out caulking her new greenhouse. But I'm trying to get through a "human interest" piece and I can't see the screen. Good to know, after yet another insane week, that my heart can still be touched. Thanks.
Thank you John for sharing this human interest story, I really needed it. I refuse to give up hope that somehow we can find a way to get along, like Kenny Chesney wrote.
This. This is why I look forward to every post you do. It's a rare talent that can put things in perspective with a few words. No matter what the subject, you do this for us. Thank you for putting my mind where it needed to be today.
I know Scott’s journey. I have over 19 years of sobriety now. I’ve learned that you must make the circle around you better, especially in this world. Scott did that! ❤️🥲
John, you have matured in both your understanding and your writing over the years. You have a gift with words. Maybe I’m just getting soft in my old age, but your story and the way you presented it touched me deeply. Thank you.
🙏, thank you. Heroism is not just displayed in big events, sometimes its displayed by a man who is trying to be the best husband, father and friend he can be. Thank you for this powerful story coming at a needed time.
Thanks for the inspirational story, John. It’s hard to keep a positive outlook in these troubling times, but your take on this family’s strong commitments should keep us focused on what we should aspire to in OUR lives and communities.
Thank you John for the reminder of how beautiful life - our world, yes even humanity is. May we all learn to live with the power of light that is in each of us, allowing it flow out of us in ways that bring healing to us, and our world. Which is what Scott did for his daughter Shannon and family, and others. Keep sharing your gift with us - and thank you.
Wow, John. I hesitate to ever say it's your best ever, but this one really moved me. Incredible story. Incredible writing. And very much needed on a day after a senseless shooting and the anniversary of 9/11.

Agreed. I'm thinking John can replace Steve Hartman on CBS.
He does write about people! He’s gifted as a writer because he doesn’t dwell on stats and final scores, he finds the human stories behind the sports.
For sure! I think you know what I meant but we are certainly all so lucky to have such a gifted storyteller in our lives
He truly does. He reminds me of John Stinebeck

So well said, Michael. I'm not caulking today but I feel exactly the same way as you do. Thank you Mr Canzano!
Me too Michael -- doggone John -- he's hard on us! But in an awesome, rewarding and ultimately uplifting way. Thank you John!
Really, one story like this makes my subscription worthwhile.
“In the end, the good stuff is still out there.” Something we all need to remind ourselves of. Thanks John.

Get along on down the road
We've got a long, long way to go
Scared to live, scared to die
We ain't perfect, but we try
Get along while we can
Always give love the upper hand
Paint a wall, learn to dance
Call your mom, buy a boat
Drink a beer, sing a song
Make a friend, can't we all get along?

One of your best! Thank you.

Glad he was able to turn his life around and raise a family. A true inspiration to anyone trying to get over the hump
Well done. Courage and character are out there, they just don't get the headlines.
Thanks. Stories like this help balance life and what’s important
