Canzano: A confession amid the Ja Morant outrage
Who could root against redemption?
The relationship soured. Things turned toxic. If the Memphis Grizzlies were your friend or neighbor, you’d have told them to cut bait and run for the hills, too. So I suppose what went down on Monday wasn’t a total surprise.
The Grizzlies wanted out of the Ja Morant business so badly that they’d have probably driven the two-time All-Star guard to the airport and carried his bags to the curb. Instead, they traded him to Portland for a couple of players — Jerami Grant and Kris Murray — whom Grizzlies fans will probably nickname “Peace” and “Quiet” in training camp.
Memphis may finally get those things.
Now, a confession.
I like the deal for Portland.
