Oregon’s win over South Carolina was worth $2 million for Oregon State and Washington State. (Photo: Emma Kappel)

Washington State closed out Thursday night’s NCAA Tournament victory over Drake by making its free throws. Kyle Smith’s team slammed the door and advanced to the second round. But it was a tweet from football coach Jake Dickert that caught my eye.

Wrote Dickert: “Great day to be a Coug!!!”

It was a profitable one, for sure.

The victory punctuated a $6 million day for WSU and Oregon State. Those two schools collected three more NCAA Tournament “units” as the conference posted a 3-0 record on Thursday. The “Pac-2” also earned another unit when Colorado won its “First Four” game on Wednesday. And the No. 10 seed Buffaloes beat No. 7 Florida on Friday 102-100.

The Pac-12’s current NCAA Tournament tally: $18 million… and counting.
